Nawalparasi. Nawalparasi: Vehicular movement along the Narayangadh-Butwal road section at Chormara and Dumkiwas in Nawalparasi (Bardaghat Susta East) has been washed away by floods.
Superintendent of Police at the District Police Office, Nawalparasi (Bardaghat Susta East) Yadav Dhakal said that traffic movement has come to a standstill after the alternative road constructed at Chormara and Dumkiwas along the East-West Highway was washed away by the flood.
Construction of alternative roads has been started after the diversion built after the bridge collapsed at Chormara and Dumkiwas was washed away by rain on Thursday night. At present, hundreds of passengers are stranded on the road in Chormara and Dumkiwas areas.
The Chormara bridge under Nawalparasi (Bardaghat Susta East) was broken on May 29 and the Dumkiwas bridge on December 15. After the bridge collapsed, vehicles were being operated by making diversions from the river.
