Kathmandu. The Babarmahal area of Kathmandu has been submerged after a pipe of the wholesale drinking water distribution system burst.
This afternoon, the area was submerged after a pipe of the wholesale drinking water distribution system in Babarmahal burst while the Electricity Authority was conducting ‘horizontal drilling’ to underground the electricity wires.
Tika Bahadur Chaudhary, head of the Kathmandu Valley Drinking Water Project Implementation Directorate (PID), informed RSS that a pipe of the wholesale drinking water distribution system burst while the pipe was being ‘horizontal drilling’ to underground the electricity wires.
He said, ‘The water distribution valve is closed after the pipe burst. The work of cleaning the pipes (washing out) is underway. So far, the water has not stopped flowing.’
After the pipe burst and water entered, the special court in Babar Mahal, along with the surrounding government buildings, were submerged, and some vehicles were also submerged.
