Chapakot Municipality provides free health insurance to 600 poor families

Syangja. The Chapakot Municipality here has provided free health insurance to 600 poor families. The municipality has provided free health insurance to 60 extremely poor households in each of the 10 wards of the municipality.

Mayor Dev Bahadur Khand said that the health insurance was provided with the aim of ensuring that they are not deprived of basic health facilities due to financial constraints.

He said, ‘We have provided free health insurance to bring health services within the reach of the extremely poor class by joining the health insurance campaign implemented by the Nepal government.’

The municipality had allocated a budget of 2.56 million rupees for health insurance of the extremely poor community in the current fiscal year. .

The municipality has stated that 600 families have been insured in the first phase from the allocated budget and 125 people, including the disabled and other disadvantaged, will be insured in the second phase.

The municipality has stated that it is preparing to allocate additional budget for the upcoming fiscal year 2082/083, after allocating budget to provide health insurance to 725 people.

The municipality has distributed insurance cards to citizens who have taken out health insurance. With the health insurance card, a family of five will receive free health care services up to 100,000.
