Kathmandu : The Kathmandu metropolis honored Palesha Govardhan, a para- taekwondo athlete who won the first historic bronze medal at the Paris 2024 Paralympics, with a cash prize of 500 thousand. The local government organized a ceremony here today to honour the athlete for her historic achievement in the Paralympics.
On the occasion held at the Metropolis office, Mayor Balen Shah presented a letter of appreciation and while Deputy Mayor Sunita Dangol handed over a check of the cash prize to the athlete.
Metropolitan City Office spokesperson Navin Manandhar, social committee coordinator Ramkumar KC, Taekwondo Association President Prakash Shamsher Rana, Olympian Sangina Baidya, and Palesha’s parents Panita and Pradeep Govardhan, among other sports officials and athletes were present on the occasion.
Palesha had won the bronze medal in the Women’s K-44, under 57 kg weight category, last Friday in Paris, France.
