Zelenskyy backs European leaders after falling out with Trump, says Ukraine ‘not alone’

Kathmandu. European leaders have come out in support of Zelensky after a dispute erupted during talks between Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and US President Donald Trump at the White House. The dispute erupted after US President Donald Trump tried to force Ukraine to sign a ceasefire that would show Russian President Vladimir Putin’s victory. Leaders of US-allied European countries have made their statements in support of Zelensky and Ukraine as the media has been reporting on the spat between the US and Ukrainian leaders. Ursula von der Leyen and Antonio Costa, the heads of the European Commission and the European Council respectively, said Zelensky was never alone. “Be strong, be courageous and be fearless,” von der Leyen and Costa told Zelensky in a joint statement on social media, adding, “We will continue to work with you for a just and lasting peace.” Meanwhile, the EU’s top diplomat, Kaja Kallas, questioned US leadership over the transatlantic alliance between European powers and Washington. “Today, it became clear that the free world needs new leaders to face this challenge.
