Xizang Relations Cultural Week begins to mark 70th anniversary of Nepal-China relations

Kathmandu. Kathmandu: The week-long Xizang Cultural Week has begun from Saturday in the context of the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Nepal and China.

National Assembly Vice-Chair Bimala Ghimire, Chinese Ambassador to Nepal Chen Song and Vice-Chair of Xizang International Cultural Association Lo Cheon jointly inaugurated the week organized by ‘Xizang Media Group’ at Hotel Yak and Yeti.

On the occasion, Vice-Chair Ghimire expressed the belief that the programme would contribute to strengthening cultural relations between the two countries and deepening people-to-people friendship. Speaking on the occasion, he said, “Nepal-China relations are not limited to cable diplomatic boundaries, it is built on the basis of shared history, culture, religion, civilization and people’s life.” ”

He said Nepal is committed to the ‘One China’ principle. Chinese Ambassador to Nepal Chan Song shared that China is moving ahead on the journey of economic prosperity by accelerating economic development, social harmony, tourism promotion, physical infrastructure construction, expansion of transport network and development of information technology as per the aspirations of the people.

Vice President of The Xizang International Cultural Association, Lo Chun, said that the cultural relations between Nepal and China for almost 2,000 years have been deteriorating at the government level as well as at the people’s level. He said the work done in the areas of trade, tourism, culture and other public interests between the two countries has further expanded the bilateral relations.

In the opening ceremony, various cultural programs as well as photographs related to Xizang including geographical diversity, lifestyle, art culture, costumes, infrastructure construction were displayed.
