Kathmandu. President of the State Affairs and Good Governance Committee, Ramhari Khatiwada, has said that preparations are underway to bring the Citizenship Bill to parliament in the current session. He said this while speaking at a meeting of the committee held at Singha Durbar on Friday.

He said that the government was working on the bill with the aim of providing ease to the Nepali citizens in trouble by passing the bill at the earliest. He said the bill would now be forwarded after holding discussions with British Gurkhas in the British Army and with the NRNA.

“Now we will hold discussions with the British Gurkhas in the British Army and also with the NRNA,” he said. We will discuss it as it is a matter of concern. Once, we discuss with friends in the British Army and some former presidents of the NRNA. After that, we have all come together to bring this bill in this session as per the wishes of the minister and all of us after holding clause-wise discussions in the committee itself. We have neither been the ruling party nor the opposition. ’

The meeting of the committee held discussions with the members proposing amendment to the Bill 2081 to amend the Nepal Citizenship Act, 2063.
