Kathmandu. Minister for Physical Infrastructure and Transport Devendra Dahal has said that the process of constructing a new bridge over the Kamala River connecting Dhanusha and Siraha would be forwarded. Replying to an oral question related to the Ministry in today’s meeting of the National Assembly, he said the contract process for the construction of a new bridge over the Kamala River would be started.
Preparations have been made to start the new contract process by breaking the contract process with Lumbini Builders, the company entrusted with the responsibility of constructing kamala bridge under the Postal Road, considered the ‘lifeline’ of Madhes, he said.
“The construction was not completed on time, now we will hand over the responsibility to the new construction company,” he said. The work has come to a standstill after the court proceedings between the construction company and the insurance company were delayed. “It may take three times more to build this bridge. We last requested for the construction of the bridge,” he said, adding, “The process of blacklisting the company has started by breaking the contract with the company if it is not constructed.” ’
Similarly, an agreement was signed in 2074 BS to construct a bridge on the Mahakali river within three years, but the work has not been completed so far. He also said that it has been decided to break the agreement with the construction company entrusted with the construction of the bridge.
