He said that the government is preparing to pass the Water Resources Bill from the Parliament soon to solve these problems and said that there is a need to expand international partnership for the sustainable use of water resources while minimizing the effects of climate change. He stressed that sustainable management of Nepal’s water resources will be ensured for development by collaborating with research institutions related to water and meteorology.

Minister Khadka said, “This time, it is necessary to include it in the budget and protect the glacial lakes. Secretaries should pay attention while preparing the budget this time. The problems arising from this risk are serious. We have seen the damage caused by the glacial lake bursting in places such as Thame. All glacial lakes are at risk. There is a reliable structure, it is ice. After this burst, not only will there be damage to the project, but the human loss will also increase accordingly. Therefore, Nepal is in a double, triple grip today. It has become Nepal’s responsibility to protect it, protect it, and call on all countries. The reason is not Nepal, but large and developed countries. Taking it seriously, we are now passing the Water Resources Bill soon.’

Minister Khadka said that it is an indispensable need today to formulate a long-term policy to conserve water resources and minimize the impact of climate change. He said that the government’s priority is to establish an effective emergency management system by integrating the water and weather forecasting systems being operated by the government with digital technology.
