Kathmandu. POKHARA: CPN (Unified Socialist) lawmaker Prem Bahadur Ale has alleged that more than Rs 10 billion was embezzled during the construction of Pokhara International Airport.
He made the claim while speaking at a meeting of the Public Accounts Committee on Wednesday. He said that the flight procedure design of Pokhara International Airport was made available only for November 2022.
He complained that he did not get a document from the Ministry of Finance when he asked for a document about the taxa. He questioned whether the Public Accounts Committee was weak.
He said that the airport to be built at a cost of Rs 145 million has been increased to 216 million overnight, adding that 71 million rupees are open corruption.
“So far, when we asked for a flight procedure design, it has been made available to us only in November 2022. We don’t know if the 2017 DG has taken him home. So far, we have not received enough documents when we ask for documents. We have not received a document from the Ministry of Finance when we asked for a document about the taxa. Our committee was not too weak. Why is such a strong Public Accounts Committee weakening day by day? I want to say with challenge that the airport to be built for 145 million has been increased to 216 million overnight. There has been 71 million open corruption. We have to award a contract under the Public Procurement Act when the rural municipality allocates Rs 5 million from abroad. But here more than 10 billion rupees have been corrupted through negotiations. ’
Lawmaker Ale said that the trailer of corruption has been seen in Pokhara and now the film should be seen in Bhairahawa.
