Kathmandu. Nepali Congress General Secretary Gagan Kumar Thapa has stressed the need to repeal dozens of non-functional laws.

He was speaking at an interaction programme on ‘Impact of budget for fiscal year 2082/83 BS on consumer market supply chain’ organized by the Central Supply and Consumer Department of the Nepali Congress in Kathmandu on Tuesday.

He said that the economic reform works carried out in the 90s, which were stalled when the NC and UML were together, should be carried forward. He also shared that he had held discussions with Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli and Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba a few days ago regarding the economic reforms.

General Secretary Thapa said that the second phase of work would be started in a few days and stressed the need to abolish dozens of unusable rules and procedures and add new things and bring the structure to the right place.

He said the economic reforms carried out in the 90s when the Nepali Congress and THE CPN (UML) were together, which have been stalled in the recent past. We need to work extensively on those reforms. Recently, we sat down and discussed with the honorable Prime Minister and the President. We have moved forward to reform the law, now we will start the second phase of work in a few days. We want to repeal dozens of useless laws. We have to repeal dozens of the regimes that have been run in the name of rules and procedures. Many new things have to be made. Once it is built, we will have to take this structure to the right place. ”

Stating that the common people should get the benefits of running the government together with the NC and UML, he argued that it would only make sense.
