Kathmandu. Minister for Forest and Environment Ain Bahadur Shahi Thakuri has claimed that the ministry is working towards the target of creating 40,000 jobs within the current fiscal year. Minister Thakuri made this claim while responding to questions asked by lawmakers in the National Assembly meeting on Wednesday.
He expressed confidence that the jobs created in the forest-related sector will stop youth migration. Minister Thakuri said that he is working to promote production on barren land by cultivating fruits and other crops on steep land through the President’s Chure Development Program, Climate Resilient Chure Program, and Watershed-Based Livelihood Project and Gandaki Watershed Project.
He also said that he is working to reduce human-wildlife conflict by allowing wild animals to live in forests. He said that the areas of natural disaster mitigation and forest management are among the priorities of the ministry.
