Kathmandu. Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has said that work is underway to construct a horse-drawn road in the remote village of Chhangru in Darchula. He said this while speaking at a question-and-answer session with lawmakers in the House of Representatives meeting on Thursday.

He said that a budget of Rs 50 million has been released for the construction of the road as per the demand of the locals. He said that after the construction of the road is completed, people will not have to use the roads of neighboring countries to reach their own territory.

He said, “There are villages in Nepal, including Chhangru, north of Khalanga, the district headquarters of Darchula. The Nepal government knows that there is no road to Chhangru, not that it does not exist now, but that it has not existed since history.” Now, in that regard, the people of that country have demanded that they should not have to travel through another country’s road for the time being, but that they should be able to travel through their own country. According to the budget required for the time being, the budget required is 50 million rupees. If that amount is available, we can build a horse-drawn road. Therefore, we will not have to travel through the other country. Therefore, they have asked for 50 million rupees to be released as requested, and the road to our own territory is being built in a hurry.’

Prime Minister Oli said that since Karnali Province is remote, work is being done to connect all district headquarters with roads through the Nepal Army.
