Jhapa. Chairman of the Communist Party of Nepal (Maoist Center) and former Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has said that they will not be in favor of changing the government.
Addressing the inauguration ceremony of the ‘Maoist with the People: Tarai-Madhesh Awareness Campaign’ launched by the party from Kachanakbal here today, he expressed the view that the CPN-Maoist Center will now go with the people.
‘We are not in favor of changing the government, we will not even try,’ he said. ‘We have resolved to move forward by cooperating with the people.’
In the past, when the party collaborated with the CPN-UML and the Nepali Congress, the party had to distance itself from the people, he said in the past. He expressed his commitment to move forward by self-criticizing and reviewing the shortcomings.
He said that the awareness campaign has been launched with the aim of strengthening relations with all castes and languages and maintaining unity.
Mentioning that the party will contest the upcoming general elections alone, he reminded that UML and Congress had previously become big parties by collaborating with the Maoists. He said, “When we collaborated with them, they became big parties. But, when we contested the elections alone, the people made us a big party.”
He said that the government has not been able to come up with a concrete program to solve the problem of wild elephants being faced by the people of Jhapa. Chairman Dahal expressed his commitment to take the lead in finding solutions to the problems of tea farmers and workers.
He expressed concern that the Rice Superzone Project, which he started in Jhapa during his second term as Prime Minister, is currently closed. The Tarai Madhesh Jagran Abhiyan with the people, which started from Kachankabal, will reach Kanchanpur on Chaitra 7 and conclude, informed the party’s Jhapa in-charge Ranjit Tamang.
