Kathmandu. Minister for Communications and Information Technology, Prithvi Subba Gurung, has said that he was ready to accept criticism and denials against the government. He said this while addressing the inauguration ceremony of the construction of Cinepa Film Cinematography Studio at Baluwatar on Tuesday.
He also urged the media council bill not to protest only for the sake of protest and urged them to criticize the damaged areas and said that the media council bill has reached the final stage. He said that the social networks operating in Nepal should abide by the laws of Nepal.
Minister Gurung said, “All of you should criticize us. Our words can be denied. May be refuted. We are ready to accept that. Tell me where it went wrong. In the interest of the country, in the interest of this region. Where is it in the interest of the people? Tell me where it is not in the interest of democracy. We are ready to accept that. There is a growing narrative of protest for the sake of protest. When it comes to its management, we have faced a big problem there as well. The Media Council Bill has reached the final stage. There are social network platforms that make so much money. Who is using it. Should it follow the Constitution of Nepal or not? Should we abide by Nepal’s laws or not? All of you must abide by the laws of Nepal. I have to, the Prime Minister should. The President must accept it. And he doesn’t have to accept it and in the world. Why are we in favor of that? It needs to be regulated. ’
Minister Gurung said that the bill to use, operate and regulate social networks has already been presented in the parliament and would be passed as soon as possible.
