Dang. The drinking water tank constructed in Sakram, Ward No. 19 of Tulsipur Sub-metropolitan City, has become dilapidated without being used. The drinking water tank, which was completed five years ago, has not been put into use yet.

The tank was constructed at a total cost of Rs. 75 lakh. The tank, built by the Jurpaniya Maintara Drinking Water Consumer and Sanitation Committee, has a capacity of 150,000 liters.

‘Neither can water enter the tank from anywhere, nor are there any water sources nearby,’ said local Devraj Wali. ‘We were surprised since the tank was built, and we are even more surprised now that it is not being used.’

The drinking water tank was built in the Mundrakot community forest area. Although water is pumped from a nearby river, it is in a state of disuse due to the lack of water during the rainy season, said Ram Kumar Dangi, chairman of the drinking water organization.

‘We kept the water tank for some time, but we could not bring water for a long time,’ he said. Although discussions were held to see if water could be brought there, he said that the locals did not agree, but there was a problem.

The report of the drinking water organization also mentions that this tank cannot be put into use.
