Chitwan. The Narayani Lift and Khageri Irrigation Management Office has started releasing water into the canal for planting. The office has been irrigating an area of 8,600 hectares. Four thousand seven hundred hectares have been irrigated from the two pumps in the Narayani Lift and three thousand nine hundred hectares from the Khageri irrigation.
According to Kulraj Chalise, the head of the office, water has been released into the Khageri irrigation since Asad 10. He informed that water has been released after performing puja at the Narayani Lift. Now water has been released from the ‘B’ pump of the lift. He said, ‘Water has been released from today after performing puja at the pump.’ He said that water was released for planting on Asad 15 on the occasion of Paddy Day. In the last fiscal year too, water was released from Asad 10.
He said that water will be released from the ‘C’ pump from the third week of Asad. According to him, one and a half cubic meters of water is drawn from B pump, while a maximum of eight cubic meters of water is released from C pump. Chalise said that water was released into the main canal and branches after cleaning the canal.
The Narayani Lift has been irrigating Devnagar, Langku, Tiger Chowk, Phulbari, Radhapur, Shreepur, Torikhet, Parasnagar, Shivanagar, Gorkhali Tole, Gondrang, Bandevi, Kandaghari and Gaurigunj areas. Devnagar, Mangalpur, Geetanagar, Parbatipur areas are being irrigated from Khageri. This office has been releasing water into the canal, targeting rice and wheat crops.
