There has been a lot of chaos as the drinking water distributed by Damauli Drinking Water and Sanitation Consumer Organization Byas-4, located in the district headquarters of Tanahun, has not been supplied to the taps. Locals of Byas-2 and 3 have had to wait for a long time to get a jug of water at places including Prem Kuwa, Pani Ghatta and Panchamandir Dhara in Amarapuri.
Consumer Dev Gajmer, a resident of Deurali Nagar, Byas Municipality-3, informed that the public has been queuing up to get water from public wells and taps since morning as water has not been supplied since Tuesday evening. The public has been in a rush till late evening as water has not been distributed since Tuesday evening. He said, “As of 9 pm on Wednesday, around 100 people were standing in line to get water from wells and taps.”
Damauli Drinking Water and Sanitation Consumers Association Chairman Buddhiman Shrestha informed that there was a problem in drinking water distribution due to the temporary drinking water pipes being removed and replaced with permanent ones during the Muglin-Pokhara road expansion. He said, “We have been working on the construction work from early morning to 10 pm, GI pipe installation is underway, and water will be restored only after the pipes are installed and concrete is poured.”
