‘Visit Bandipur Year-2025’ to be organized, average stay of tourists to be three days

Kathmandu. With the aim of promoting tourism in Bandipur, a famous tourist destination known as the Queen of the Mountains, ‘Bandipur Visit Year, 2025’ is being organized.

The Bandipur Rural Municipality has decided to celebrate the year 2025 as the Visit Year with the aim of identifying new tourist destinations in Bandipur, creating employment and further stimulating economic activities through tourism promotion.

To make the visit year a grand success, the rural municipality has also formed a 21-person Visit Year Secretariat under the coordination of tourism entrepreneur Baish Gurung, informed Surendra Bahadur Thapa, Chairman of the rural municipality. He informed that the Secretariat has representation from the Hotel Association, Restaurant and Bar Association (REBAN), Tourism Development Committee, Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Homestay Federation, etc.

“The Bandipur Visit Year has been organized with the vision of a prosperous and cultured Bandipur through responsible tourism activities while preserving and developing natural and cultural heritages and with the objective of increasing the number of tourist arrivals to two lakh annually,” said Chairman Thapa.

According to Secretariat Coordinator Tourism Vaish Gurung, a plan has been made to double the number of tourists by promoting Bandipur’s tourism at home and abroad through the Visit Year.

‘In the visit year, 1 lakh We have planned to bring domestic and one hundred thousand foreign tourists to stay,’ he said, ‘Our goal is to bring eight hundred thousand tourists to Bandipur annually in the next three years, considering the visit year as the base year.’

According to Gurung, the average stay of tourists in the visit year will be three days. In addition, the average daily expenditure of foreign tourists will be 75 US dollars and the average daily expenditure of Nepali tourists will be 3 thousand rupees.

Currently, there are 75 hotels and four homestays in Bandipur alone, as well as 120 hotels and 12 homestays in the entire rural municipality. Which has a capacity to accommodate 1,700 people daily.

For this, the necessary infrastructure will be built, new destinations will be identified, developed and promoted. He said that through the Visit Year, Bandipur’s tourism sector will generate more employment and self-employment, increase additional investment in hotels and restaurants, and develop Bandipur as a major tourist destination in Nepal.

‘Through the Visit Year, a homestay circuit with tourist facilities will be promoted, and at least five more destinations will be identified, developed, and promoted in addition to the existing tourist centers and products,’ he said.

Through the Visit Year, a seasonal package will be prepared along with the preservation of the cultural heritage here, while cultural, religious, and rural tourist circuits will be promoted, said tourism expert and President of Heritage Nepal, Harish Gurung.

During the Visit Year, To attract tourists, the rural municipality has set a goal of creating packages according to the age and interests of tourists, as well as increasing public participation for “earn in the village, enjoy in the village” and environmental protection.

The rural municipality estimates that a total of 44.35 million rupees will be spent to make the tourism year a success. The estimated expenditure details also include the commitments expected from the federal, provincial and local governments as well as various other national and international government and non-governmental organizations.

In addition, regular programs under the Bandipur Rural Municipality of the Government of Nepal have also been included.
