Kathmandu. Nepal Bankers’ Association organized a special program to bid farewell to outgoing Governor of Nepal Rastra Bank Maha Prasad Adhikari. A reception has been organized for Bishwanath Poudel.
Speaking on the occasion, outgoing Governor Adhikari expressed gratitude for the support received from the banking sector during his tenure. Recalling the challenging times of the COVID-19 pandemic, he thanked the banks for their successful leadership in such difficult times and lauded their positive contribution to the stability of the economy.
He said the post-pandemic economic stability was not only the achievement of the Rastra Bank but also the result of cooperation and joint efforts of the entire banking sector. Sharing the experience and learning of his tenure, the outgoing Governor said that although some decisions of the past were difficult, those decisions were necessary for long-term improvement. He said that nepal’s banking sector should learn from the mistakes of the past and be careful not to repeat such mistakes in the future.
He also expressed his commitment to help the banking sector through his knowledge, experience and advice if needed in the future. Similarly, the newly appointed Governor On the occasion, Bishwanath Poudel said he was committed to make nepal’s banking sector effective and stability in the overall economy.
He made it clear that the existing policies and arrangements of Nepal Rastra Bank would be continued without making any major changes in them and necessary reforms would be made only where necessary. Governor Poudel pledged to formulate policies based on coordination and consultation with the banking sector in the coming days and take the Nepali banking sector towards stronger, inclusive and long-term development.
For this, he requested everyone’s support and cooperation. On the occasion, representatives of the banking sector expressed gratitude to the outgoing Governor and wished the newly appointed Governor a successful tenure.
