Triveni (Nawalparasi). Vehicles stopped due to the collapse of the Giruwari River bridge in Chormara, Nawalparasi (before Bardaghat Susta) along the East-West Highway have been rerouted via an alternative route.
The Narayangadh-Butwal road was completely blocked after the bridge collapsed last night. Deputy Superintendent of Police of the District Police Office, Madhu Nepal, informed that the vehicles stopped after the bridge collapsed are now being diverted via an alternative route.
Vehicles that were left stranded on the west side are heading south from Chormara Bazaar, crossing the river via Tamsariya village, and exiting the highway at Arunkhola via Fulbari-Bhiuran from Ranitar. He said that there is no problem in operating vehicles through alternative routes due to the lack of water in the river.
Vehicles leaving from the west to the east can go south from Phulbari in Chormara, via Ranitar, Tamsaria village and exit onto the highway in Chormara, he said. However, large lorries have been banned from operating on that route as they cannot reach the turn.
Vehicle movement has also been completely banned from the broken bridge. Deputy Superintendent of Police Nepal said that there is no possibility of the bridge being operated immediately. The bridge broke last night while a truck carrying clinker was crossing the bridge.
