Kathmandu. In the recent past, due to the increase in production, the traders have started finding it difficult to sell as well as cheaper. Traders said that more vegetables have come to the market due to high production after many people started cultivating vegetables instead of other farming.

Chet Bahadur Thing, who has been trading in Kalimati Fruit and Vegetable Market, said that the price of vegetables has come down due to high production of vegetables. According to him, the production has increased after many people started planting vegetables in the fields where paddy was planted earlier. Vegetables enter the capital from Dhading, Sarlahi, Kavre and Makawanpur.

There is a possibility that the price of vegetables will increase from Mid-July after the completion of vegetables in the fields. There is no price to sell gourd at Rs 15-20, bitter gourd at Rs 20-25 and body at Rs 15-20. Neither the traders nor the farmers.

Chet Bahadur Thing, a vegetable trader, said, “The production has increased due to the high number of vegetables being planted in the paddy field. There are no vegetables on the Indian side now. Vegetables are imported from Dhading, Sarlahi, Kavre and Makawanpur districts. Indian vegetables are not there now. Vegetables have become cheaper due to increased production. ’

According to traders, vegetables have to be dumped without selling them. They say they are incurring huge losses due to non-sale of vegetables. Bishnu Karki, another trader who has been doing business in Kalimati, said that the price of vegetables has become cheaper due to high production. He said that there are many vegetables in the market as some Indians have also come along with Nepali vegetables.

He said, “The production in Nepal is also high now. The market is too much. Commercial stalls were also set up in place. There are stalls. People don’t like to eat when it’s cheap. Maybe that’s why vegetables are not sold. ’

According to Karki, vegetables have not been sold due to weak purchasing power of the people due to the poor condition of the country. Traders in Kalimati say that the price of fruits along with vegetables is also cheaper than last year.

Kalimati Fruit and Vegetable Development Committee has fixed rs 29 per kg for local cauliflower, Rs 95 per kg of large cauliflower, Rs 46 per kg of maize, Rs 152 for pea, Rs 17 for gourd, Rs 32 for ghiraunla, Rs 42 per kg for mustard greens and Rs 28 per kg for neuro.

Similarly, the price of kanya mushroom has been fixed at Rs 145.
