Jhapa. A total of 14 kilometers of road is being blacktopped in Birtamod Municipality with the investment of federal, provincial and local levels.
According to Madan Sah, sub-engineer at the Road Division Office, the upgradation of Harkalal Marg, Buttabari (Pyakurel Chowk) road, Gokul Joshi Marg and Shahid Chandra Marg road has reached the final stage. The construction cost of these roads connecting wards 2, 3, 4, 6, 7 and 9 of the municipality is more than Rs 1 billion. Blacktopping is going on with the goal of completing it in the current fiscal year.
The 6-km-long 258-metre-long road connecting ward no. 6, 7 and 8, funded by the World Bank, is currently being blacktopped. Manoj Upreti of RP Samata JV said that the construction will be completed by the third week of May. RP Samata JV has taken the contract for the construction of this road at a cost of Rs 580 million.
Birtamod Municipality is being blacktopped in three sections with the goal of completing the two-kilometer road of Shaheed Chandra Marg connecting Birtamod Municipality with Haldibari Rural Municipality within the next 15 days. Siddhithumka Evergreen JV has taken the contract for the construction of the first section of the 2-km-long road for Rs 56 million, Trasna Construction Service for Rs 6.8 million in the second section and Namlak Construction Service for Rs 10.5 million in the third section.
According to Ward Chair Kishor Budhathoki, shanti nirman sewa pvt ltd is constructing the charpane-Ghailadubwa one-kilometer road connecting Kankai municipality through ward number 2 to 3 at a contract of Rs 60 million.
Harkalal Marg at Birtamod-4 is being upgraded into three sections. The middle section of the road, which is being constructed with the investment of the state and the municipality, has been blacktopped while the work on the first and final sections is underway. The first section of the road has been awarded for Rs 11.3 million, the second section for Rs 60 million and the last section for Rs 11.1 million.
With the supplementary budget of Rs 26 million of Koshi State Government and Birtamod Municipality, the work of upgrading the one-kilometer stretch from Dahal village to Lalmati Chowk West section is going on in full swing. Dinesh Mainali, a construction entrepreneur, said the road would be blacktopped in a few days. Birtamod Municipality Mayor Pabitra Prasain said that continuous monitoring of the upgradation of the road is underway.
