Chitwan. Madi Valley, located in the southern part of Chitwan, has been making a unique identity from the tourism point of view. Madi, which crosses chitwan National Park, is rich in natural, religious and cultural heritage. Especially the Vaikuntha Dham area located in Madi-8 is attracting the hearts of tourists.

Vaikuntha Lake, Dhanlaxmi Waterfall, Vaikuntheshwar Shivalaya Temple, Kailash Parvat, Prem Daha, Manmoh Bhir, Dokhola Dobhan, Chamere Cave and Aranya Buddhist Vihar are very important places from the natural and religious point of view.

Due to these heritages, Madi has become a center of interest for tourists. Besides, projects such as Kantipur Collective Farming, Farm Stay and Ayodhya Marg have made tourism more attractive by connecting it with the community. Raj Kumar Pariyar, chairman of the Main Committee of Baikunthadham Photo and Fair Management, said that the fair is held every year on Bala Chaturdashi at Baikuntha Lake.

He said that on Bala Chaturdashi, the temple is used to light the lamp by staying awake throughout the night and bathing in the Vaikuntha Kund the next morning. He said that people believe that after bathing in this pond, sins will be destroyed.

He said, “This is madi municipality ward no. 1of Chitwan district. Vaikuntheshwardham located at 8. Baikuntha Dham is important in terms of religious and tourism. The fair is held every year on Bala Chaturdashi. There are specialities here to come to the temple and light the lamp throughout the night and bathe in the Vaikuntha Kund in the morning. It is believed that after bathing in this pond, sins will be destroyed. It is also believed that when Ram Sita came to exile in the mythological period, he bathed in the pond here. ‘

To reach Vaikunthadham, one has to reach Khar Katta via Bharatpur-Madi-Thori Postal Road. Since then, a three-kilometer-long paved road has been constructed near the forest. From there, you walk for about 20 minutes to reach Vaikuntha Lake.

In this small lake in the middle of the green forest, the waterfall slipping from above makes the view even more delightful. Dhanlaxmi Falls, which is reached after a walk of about one and a half hours above Vaikuntha Lake, is still a little known destination.

This waterfall, which falls from a height of about 60 meters, is being developed as a new destination at the local level. The staircase has already been constructed halfway from the lake to the waterfall, while the remaining stairs are planned to be completed next year.

According to former ward chair Krishna Adhikari, b. No. The settlement started living in 2020-22. Since then, the tradition of organizing fairs around Vaikuntha Lake and sowing 100 seeds on Bal Chaturdashi has started. According to adhikari, devotees not only come from Madi but also from Chitwan, neighbouring districts and indian border areas on this occasion.

Adhikari said that the waterfall has been named dhanlaxmi chhahara as it is a legend of getting wealth here and urged everyone to come as the Vaikunthadham area is very beautiful and enjoyable

.

He said, “One can come to this place by observing various types of natural shades, shades, waterfalls, lakes and dahas from Vaikunthadham. After coming here, it is known as Dhanlakshmi Chhahra because of the legend that the ancestors received wealth in the name of Dhanlaxmi Chhahra. It is a very beautiful and enjoyable place and we request everyone to come. ‘

The high number of khahare rivulets in the Madi area adjoining chitwan National Park and the disturbance of wild animals have become a major concern for the locals. Although tourism has flourished in other areas by showing wildlife such as tigers and rhinos, madi has not yet been able to take proper advantage of it.

The Vaikunthadham area of Madi, which is rich in religious, natural and cultural heritage, has the potential to become a long-term center of tourism. This area can be established as a major tourist destination through infrastructure expansion, publicity and local participation.
