Kathmandu. The United Nations is hopeful that the talks between China and the United States in Switzerland will help move the two countries towards an efficient and effective trade relationship, UN spokesman Stephane Dujarric has said.
“We hope that the talks will help move the US-China trade relationship towards greater ease and simplicity,” Farhan Haq, deputy spokesperson for UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, told a regular press conference.
The UN chief is “concerned about the impact a global war could have on developing countries, so any efforts to avoid it are welcome,” Haq said. He Lifeng, a member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and Vice Premier, is scheduled to visit Switzerland from May 9 to 12.
During his visit to Switzerland, he will meet with US Representative Scott Besant as China’s representative for China-US economic and trade affairs, a Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson announced.
