Bhojpur. Ram Prasad Rai and Rewati Raman Thapa of Rural Municipality-8 have returned from Korea. Thapa, who spent 10 years in Korea on the basis of foreign employment, is engaged in commercial chilli farming.

Thapa said that he has been doing commercial farming by renting 40 ropanis of land at Taksar of Bhojpur Municipality-12. According to him, commercial Akbar is cultivating khusrani here using the skills of farming technology seen in Korea. He said that he has expanded 10,000 akbari chilli saplings on the land he has rented.

“I spent 10 years in Korea on the foundation of foreign employment,” said Thapa, adding, “My earnings there were good, but I am now engaged in agriculture business thinking of becoming an example in agriculture in my own place.” “My target is to earn rs 8-10 lakh annually from chilli cultivation,” he said.

According to him, there is no problem in getting income as per the target if the chilli gets the price like last year. He said that he has chosen agriculture work to prove that good income can be earned from agriculture at a time when the youth’s interest in foreign countries is increasing.

“Many of us are going abroad without understanding the importance of the country,” he said, adding, “If we can do the misery of foreign countries in our own soil, then we can also get good income from agriculture.” He said that the state needs to help the farmers engaged in business with modern tools and equipment rather than the amount in subsidy. He said that the state needs to pay attention to the utilization of many agricultural lands in the villages as the youth have gone abroad.

He said that if he could do agricultural work by becoming a professional in his own place, he could earn better income at home than abroad. He said that the support programs of all levels of the state need to reach the real farmers.

“The state needs to help the youths who want to venture in the country on the basis of their business plan,” he said, adding, “The practice of running state programmes on the basis of accessibility has also affected the real farmers. ’

Last year, 2,000 plants planted on trial basis were able to earn Rs 300,000 from chillies, he said. According to Farmer Thapa, 10,000 saplings have been planted this year due to good income from chillies.

He said that the plan is to expand it to 40,000 to 50,000 saplings next year. He said that he returned to Nepal with the determination to do agricultural work in his own place despite malik’s request to stay in Korea.
