Kaski. Two workers have died after being struck by lightning in Annapurna Rural Municipality of Kaski.
Bharat Pubir Rai, 44, of Silichong Rural Municipality-2 of Sankhuwasabha and Mahesh Rai, 18, of the same place, died after being struck by lightning on Sunday while working on the Triveni Tal trekking route in Pode, Annapurna Rural Municipality-11, informed Basanta Kumar Sharma, Information Officer and Deputy Superintendent of Police at the District Police Office, Kaski.
Out of the nine people deployed to widen the path, install stairs and construct railings on the Triveni Tal trekking route, which is located at an altitude of 3,800 meters above sea level, the remaining seven are said to be safe. .
After receiving information about the incident, a four-member team led by a police inspector from the District Police Office went to the scene on Sunday, said Deputy Superintendent of Police Shama. He said, ‘The police team that went from the district reached Ghandruk last night and stayed there. Since it will take more than five hours to walk from there, the process of reaching the scene and bringing the body will begin by afternoon.’
The rural municipality has stated that the construction of the trekking route has begun with the joint investment of the Nepal Tourism Board and the rural municipality.
