Humla. A substation with a capacity of 33 KV transmission line is going to be constructed at Kumna of Adanchuli rural municipality-1. The substation is being constructed with the investment of Nepal Electricity Authority( NEA).
The construction of the substation has started with the expansion of the central electricity transmission line. At present, two substations of 33-33 KV capacity are being constructed in Humla. Both the substations are under construction at Simkot, the district headquarters, and at Kumna of Adanchuli rural municipality.
Jitendra Shah, chief of Nepal Electricity Authority, Hildum Power Distribution Centre, said that after the completion of the construction of these two substations, electricity service will be provided to all the seven rural municipalities here. “After the expansion of the transmission line, there will be no shortage of electricity in the district, not only here but also in the local levels of Mugu and Bajura. ’
Although the Hildum Distribution Centre at the district headquarters has provided access to electricity in Simkot and Kharpunath rural municipalities, other rural municipalities still depend on micro-hydropower. Kaduri has produced and distributed electricity in Tanjakot in the lower part of the district, while two locally produced power projects in Adanchuli have been damaged time and again.
At present, only the Kukur Pharna Small Hydropower Project is in operation. However, the power plant of Chhahrakhet Hydropower Project, built for wards 1, 2 and 3, has not been rebuilt after a landslide swept away the power house in wards 4, 5 and 6.
Substations of 33 KV transmission lines are being constructed as quality electricity is not supplied from these transmission lines. Mohan Bikram Singh, chairman of Adanchuli rural municipality, said it was expected that the power supply would be regular.
Sunil Ghising of New Smart Electric and Plumbing Service Pvt Ltd said that the construction of 33 KV substation has started and the work of pulling 11 KV LT line through far west is underway. According to him, work is underway to install 3,000 poles at present as they come from Martadi substation of Bajura to Adanchuli substation via Kolti and Khattad.
NeA chief Shah said that work is underway to pull the 33 KV substation and 11 KV line at Simkot, the district headquarters, and Kumna of Adanchuli to make the power supply of Humla reliable and quality. Yogendra Rokaya, an engineer at Tumch sub-station Kumna, informed that Hans TC Company is working with the contract to construct four sub-stations in Humla and Mugu. According to him, substations are currently being constructed at Khatyad and Mangri in Mugu, Simkot and Adanchuli, the district headquarters of Humla. NeA Karnali Province Office Chief Shambhu Kusiat Yadav said the nea is currently being upgraded to 33 KV.
Adding national transmission line
With the arrival of the national transmission line at Mugu on September 1, 2080 BS, electricity from the national grid reached 76 out of 77 districts. Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) had tapped the 33 KV transmission line from Kalikot to Jumla at Nagma and constructed a 85-km line and brought electricity to Mugu district headquarters Gamgadhi.
After reaching the national grid in Mugu, only Humla is left to be connected, but it is certain that it will be connected to the national transmission line in the next few months. Currently, sub-stations are being constructed at simkot, the district headquarters, Tumch and Kumna of Adanchuli in the lower part of the district.
