Kavrepalanchok. Two roads east of Koshi in Kavrepalanchok are being upgraded. The Dolalghat-Phalante-Kolanti-Pokharichauri-Guranese section connected to the Araniko Highway is being upgraded, as is the Habeli-Saping-Simthali-Bekhasimle-Wafal section in Bhumlu Rural Municipality, which is connected to the same section.

The Project Office has stated that the Rural Road Network Improvement Project (AF) of the Bagmati Province Government is expanding the road by 6.5 kilometers through the Project Implementation Unit, Bhaktapur.

After the floods and landslides of last October damaged about 1.5 km of the road, a new design is needed in the area, said Ushesh Shrestha, Program Manager of the Project Office. He said that there is no way to work in this area until a new design is made.

According to Shrestha, the construction of drains, retaining walls, and gabions on the expanded road has reached the final stage. He said that the construction company is preparing to start grading work from next week. The Bandhan-Bhagwati Construction Company, with investment from the Asian Development Bank (ADB), had won the contract for Rs 120 million to be completed in two years on Chaitra 13, 2080 BS.

The project office has stated that 25 percent financial progress and 40 percent physical progress have been made so far. The construction company has stated that preparations are being made to blacktop the road using ‘asphalt’ technology within the current fiscal year. Meanwhile, last week, Bagmati Provincial Assembly MP Laxman Lamsal urged the representatives of the project and construction company to monitor the under-construction road and complete the work within the stipulated time.

Blacktopping has been started in the Habeli (Saping) section of the Habeli (Saping) Simthali (Bekhashimle (Wafal) road. The upgrade was started from the provincial government’s budget, and the work of laying the pitch has started from today, informed the construction company’s manager Pradeep Gautam.

According to him, in the first phase, three kilometers and 200 meters of blacktopping and 400 meters of slope will be done using asphalt technology. The Infrastructure Development Office Dhulikhel signed a contract agreement with PSKR Everest JV last Mangshir for Rs. 93.265 million. The project is scheduled to be completed by Mangsir.

Company manager Gautam informed that work is being carried out at a rapid pace to complete the contract before the scheduled deadline.
