Kathmandu. Cooperative journalism training has started in Nagarkot in collaboration with the Nepal Cooperative Journalists Society (CJN) and the Department of Cooperatives. The society has started a two-day cooperative journalism training for 25 cooperative journalists writing in the cooperative sector.
In the training program, which was started under the coordination of the society’s president Kaji Shrestha, various trainers will train on the theoretical and legal basis of cooperatives, implementation and practical aspects, economic and cooperative journalism and regulation of the financial sector.
In the training program that started on Friday, the first session was provided by Shashi Kumar Lamsal, Deputy Registrar of the Department of Cooperatives, and the second session was provided by Yadav Humagain, founding president of the society. Lamsal provided training on the theoretical and legal basis of cooperatives and its implementation and practical aspects. He trained the participants on the current activities of the Cooperative Department, various legal obstacles, the current status of cooperatives, and asset purification in cooperatives.
Similarly, while training on the potential, role, and challenges of cooperative journalism, Humagain also informed about the priority given to cooperative journalism by journalists and media outlets, its scope and limits, news content, and opportunities.
Similarly, on Saturday, Modnath Dhakal, outgoing president of the Nepal Economic Journalists Association (NAFIZ), will provide training on economic journalism, while Indra Chaolagain, director of the Nepal Rastra Bank, will provide training on the standards and guidelines issued by the Nepal Rastra Bank for cooperatives, and the regulation and supervision of the Rastra Bank in cooperatives. .
CJN, in collaboration with the Department, has been organizing training and workshops every year for the skill development and capacity building of its members.
