Turkey’s foreign trade deficit increased by 20.5 percent in February

Agency. Turkey’s foreign trade deficit reached about $8.2 billion in February, according to data released by the Turkish Trade Ministry on Tuesday.

Which is an increase of 20.5 percent compared to the previous year. The ministry reported that imports increased by 3.8 percent compared to the same month last year to $28.9 billion, while exports decreased by 1.5 percent to $20.8 billion.

The decline in exports compared to the same month last year was due to harsh weather conditions and fewer working days, Turkish Trade Minister Ömer Bolat said. Turkey’s overall exports increased by about 2.5 percent in 2024 to reach a record high of $262 billion.

In addition, according to trade data compiled by the Ministry of Trade in cooperation with the Turkish Statistical Institute, the country’s foreign trade deficit narrowed by about 23 percent last year to $82.2 billion.
