Kathmandu. A heated exchange of views between US President Donald Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky took place in the Oval Office on Friday. The two leaders clashed as they made their respective positions during the talks.

After US President Trump disagreed with what he said during the talks, Trump, angered by Zelensky’s remarks, told him, “You either have to be willing to make a deal. The United States has gone out of its way to help Ukraine.” The meeting, which was intended to ease tensions over the sudden US intervention in Russia, led to a rift between them.

“You are gambling with the lives of millions of people. You are gambling on the possibility of World War III, and what you are doing is a disgrace to this country,” Trump said. Zelensky visited the White House at the invitation of US President Trump to discuss sharing Ukraine’s mineral resources and a peace deal with Russia, despite the US president recently calling his Ukrainian counterpart a dictator.

The meeting came after the leaders of France and Britain also visited the White House to urge Trump not to abandon cooperation with Kiev. However, anger flared after Vice President J.D. Vance said that “diplomacy” was needed to end the war. Zelensky responded by calling Vance’s remarks “what kind of diplomacy” and Vance then accused him of being “disrespectful” to the presidency.

The much-anticipated mineral deal between the US and Ukraine was not signed after the dispute and Zelensky was asked to leave the US presidency. Speaking to Fox News after leaving the presidency, Zelensky said that the dispute between him and Trump was “not good for either side.” In the process, he said that he was confident that relations between the two countries could move forward despite the latest incident. During the talks, Trump said that Ukraine could not win by fighting Russia, and Zelensky said that he wanted a ceasefire, a source close to the US presidential office said.

Journalists accused Zelensky of insulting the United States by attending an important meeting wearing a T-shirt and pants. But Zelensky said that he was in trouble and did not wear a coat because it was expensive. He said that he would wear a coat only after the war was over.

In a 50-minute meeting in the Oval Office, US President Donald Trump and Vice President DJ Vance pressured Zelensky to make a deal in favor of Russia. The US had said that Ukraine could only survive the war with $350 billion in aid. Trump said that if the US withdrew, Ukraine would lose the war in 2 weeks. The three-year-old war has become even more confusing after a disagreement during the talks.
