Kathmandu. US President Donald Trump has said he has no intention of reducing tariffs on steel and aluminum.

Last January, Trump announced that he would impose tariffs on steel and aluminum, including those imported from various trading partners.

His announcement has created an atmosphere of panic in financial markets. The plan has fueled fears that the world’s largest economy could be pushed into recession. Asked whether he had any intention of reducing tariffs on steel and aluminum, President Trump told reporters on Air Force One, “No, I have no such intention.” Instead, he said he would double down on his pledge to impose reciprocal tariffs by April 2 to correct trade practices Washington considers unfair.

This has raised the possibility that more products and trading partners could be targeted specifically. “April 2 is a day of liberation for our country,” he added. “Billions of dollars have come into our country and a lot more will come in on April 2.”
