NEW YORK. The United States Department of State has approved a $3.1 billion aid package for Ukraine to train, maintain, and support fighter jets, the Pentagon said today.
The assistance includes aircraft modifications, pilot training, maintenance support, additional equipment, ground support, and specialized program systems.
The companies involved in this assistance are primarily American organizations that produce fighter jets and provide technical services. However, this assistance does not include any new aircraft. The planes will reportedly be provided by European allies, not the US government.
This support follows another deal worth Rs 2.66 billion, approved in December last year, which provided mission planning systems and maintenance equipment.
Allied countries such as the Netherlands, Denmark, Norway and Belgium have so far announced a total of nineteen fighter jets for Ukraine. More aircraft are expected to be delivered throughout 2025.
According to an international aviation information source, a plane was recently brought to a US military base in Tucson, which was later sent to Poland.
According to local media reports, the parts of the aircraft were taken from a storage facility called Davis-Manthan near Tucson. According to the US Air Force, the aircraft, although previously used, are not currently in a flight condition. The planes will be used as spare parts for the planes that Ukraine will receive.
As mentioned in the statement, the planes lack essential parts such as engines and radars and are not in a condition to be put back into service. RSS
