‘Traditional Food Festival’ held at Chakhewa on Mundum Trek

Bhojpur. A traditional food festival has been organized in Chakhewa, Bhojpur for the development and promotion of the Mundum trekking route. The traditional food festival has been organized targeting tourists visiting here.

The festival showcased local products including millet, phapar, gundruk, roasted corn in soybean paste, chicken vachipa (tite) and other dishes available in Temkemaiyung rural municipality. Similarly, fish stew, paha, kodo ma:ma, kodo dhido dishes have also been exhibited.

Ramadevi Rai, Vice-Chairman of the Rural Municipality, said that the local food festival was organized with the aim of marketing locally produced products and providing information about local food to tourists. According to Vice-Chairman Rai, the festival was organized mainly to inform tourists visiting the Mundum trekking route about local food dishes.

The festival was organized with the coordination of the rural municipality and the financial support of the tourism-based tourism development project. Saroj Basnet, Chairman of the Rural Municipality, informed that the festival will help in the livelihood of the locals along with the marketing of local products. He said that the festival was organized to make the Mundum Visit Year 2025 a success.

The locals have been excited by the traditional festival in Chakhewa. Hoteliers who serve local products targeting tourists visiting here say that. The two-day festival has been organized on the occasion of the New Year targeting tourists.
