Kathmandu. Kathmandu: The government has decided to remove the obstacles in the Bagmati River at Khoch in Chobhar, which is the exit of the Kathmandu Valley. A meeting of the Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Executive Committee chaired by Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak today took the decision to remove the obstructions in chobhar khoch through the Nepal Army under the leadership of the Ministry of Urban Development.
Executive Chief of The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority Dinesh Prasad Bhatta said that the meeting decided to remove the obstruction in the flow of bagmati river at Chobhar last year.
The meeting also approved the ‘Monsoon Preparedness and Response National Action Plan-2082 BS’. The Department of Hydrology and Meteorology has predicted more rainfall than the average in this year’s monsoon season. According to the Department, rainfall is likely to be more than the average from May 18 to July 15, while rainfall is likely to be less from July 17 to July 15 and from July 16 to August 15.
On the occasion, Minister Lekhak directed to start the work from now on as per the National Action Plan of Response, bhatta said. Secretaries of the Ministries of Home Affairs, Physical Infrastructure and Transport, Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation, Inspector General of Police, Inspector General of Armed Police Force, high officials of Nepal Army, representatives of private sector and joint secretaries of various ministries attended the meeting.
