Kathmandu. 2082 TikTok has launched its new ‘Family Pairing’ feature in Nepal to help families promote a responsible and safe online experience for their young users.

With this feature, parents will be able to link their teenager’s TikTok account to their own account, giving them access to a range of safety-related options. This is expected to help develop a culture of responsible and safe internet use among family members.

To launch the Family Pairing feature, accounts can be linked by going to TikTok’s ‘Settings and Privacy’ menu and scanning the QR code. Once the accounts are linked, parents can use their own mobile without touching their child’s phone. The company said that it can change security settings directly.

Family Pairing has more than 15 customizable features related to safety, privacy, and digital well-being that parents can adjust according to their children’s TikTok experience. For example, it has features such as limiting daily screen time, blocking messaging and comments, making age-appropriate content visible, making accounts searchable or not, and controlling search settings.

This feature will provide peace of mind for families, as it not only protects teen users but also encourages open dialogue between them and parents about digital behavior. This is an important step towards creating a safe and thoughtful internet environment for the next generation.

‘The safety of our community is a top priority for TikTok, especially when it comes to (teen) users. “The launch of the Family Pairing feature is part of our efforts to provide Nepali families with useful tools to encourage responsible digital behavior,” said Firdous Mottakin, Head of Public Policy and Government Relations, South Asia, TikTok.

“As a platform registered in Nepal, we are also committed to working closely with the Government of Nepal and relevant stakeholders to ensure a safe, positive and inclusive online environment for everyone on our platform.”

To bring this feature to the entire country, TikTok is also conducting a public awareness campaign in collaboration with popular celebrities and digital influencers in Nepal. The company said that the campaign will be promoted through mainstream media, outdoor billboards and social media.

TikTok aims to reach families across Nepal and encourage widespread adoption of the Family Pairing feature by leveraging the trusted voices of public figures.

TikTok has been introducing policies and features to provide a safe and transparent experience for users around the world. The launch of ‘Family Pairing’ in Nepal is part of the same long-term strategy, which will encourage the younger generation, in particular, to use TikTok with a safe experience.
