Kathmandu. TikTok has launched a new guided meditation feature to support the mental health of users worldwide. This new in-app tool is aimed at making it easier for users to practice meditation and mental balance.
TikTok also announced a $42.3 million Global Mental Health Education Fund, which will support trusted organizations around the world.
From teenagers in school to young people in daily responsibilities, users will be able to easily meditate using this new tool. TikTok’s initiative is an important part of its commitment to bring about positive change through digital wellness and technology.
The ‘Meditation’ feature is made available to all users
Contribute to sweet sleep and mental health
TikTok has expanded its previously operational Sleep Hours geographic feature to include ‘Meditation’ feature. Through this feature, guided meditation has been provided to make users feel calm and balanced before going to bed at night.
Research has shown that meditation improves sleep quality. So now this facility has been made available to users of all ages. This feature is automatically activated for users under the age of 18.
After 10 p.m., teenagers’ for-you feed shows meditation, and if they continue to scroll, a second screen of meditation will appear, which cannot be removed easily. According to a recent internal test, 98 percent of adolescents have chosen to have this meditation feature.
Adult users can activate Sleep Hours by going to The Screen Time settings according to their wish. In today’s busy world, rest is very important. Experts recommend meditation for at least 10 minutes a day to reduce stress and focus.
According to a study by JAMA Internal Medicine and Harvard Health, meditating for 10-15 minutes before going to bed can help improve sleep, reduce anxiety, and maintain emotional balance.
$2.3 million investment in mental health education worldwide
In addition to the in-app feature, TikTok has partnered with 31 mental health organizations in 22 countries to offer advertising credits worth $42.3 million. This fund and TikTok-led training will help partners create engaging and reliable mental health content that reaches a wider audience.
TikTok plans to expand the initiative to South Asian countries as mental health discussions expand.
Asma Anjum, Trust and Regional Lead, TikTok South Asia, says, “In South Asian markets like Nepal, talking about mental health was previously considered indigestible. But now, with the increase in awareness, there has been a positive change in behavior. Many people have started talking openly, asking for help, and accepting it. So we are committed to driving this positive change and investing in in-app facilities and awareness campaigns for the benefit of our users.” ‘
Continuously committed to well-being
The Guided Meditation Facility and Mental Health Fund demonstrate TikTok’s long-term commitment to digital well-being and social impact. TikTok is also now adding educational content, security tools, and parental control features that promote healthy digital behavior, especially for young users.
Through charity campaigns such as #GivingSzn, STEM study materials, or initiatives such as AMBER Alert for Missing Children, TikTok aims to make a social impact along with entertainment.
