Kathmandu. CPN (Maoist Center) General Secretary Dev Gurung has said that the process of stopping the BRI project process in a roundabout way has begun. He expressed such suspicions while addressing the ‘Nepal-China Economic and Business Summit-2025’ organized in Kathmandu on Friday.

He said that the government should take seriously the court’s stay on the construction of infrastructure under the national project within the national park. Stating that the BRI is connected to the road network connecting the northern region of Nepal, he said that the bilateral relations between Nepal and China should be seriously thought about the decision of the Constitutional Court to stop the construction of infrastructure without going to review.

He said that some development agreements between the two countries have not been implemented because of us. He said that assistance between the two countries should be implemented with high priority.

He said, “In the context of bilateral relations, we should not ignore or neglect such assistance. And in order to further promote it, we should also accelerate the implementation process. In the past, whether it is in the context of bilateral visits by the President, or visits by Prime Ministers in the interest of bilateral relations, many agreements have been made. And despite the agreement, there is a delay in the implementation aspect. It is necessary to accelerate the delay. And it is necessary to initiate the implementation at a rapid pace. The BRE agreement has been reached after a long time. This is a positive thing, but there are still challenges in the implementation aspect. There are also some challenges in implementation due to our own reasons.’

Secretary General Gurung emphasized the need to further define and develop the relationship between Nepal and China due to the global political situation and regional geopolitical situation.
