Kathmandu. Nepali Congress General Secretary Bishwa Prakash Sharma has expressed hope that the issues related to the mountains would be included in the upcoming budget. In a letter to Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli after returning from The Sagarmatha region, he urged him to include the issues of honorable bhariya insurance, pension to professional climbers, installation of government towers at the base camp, technology and government access to Mt Everest, construction of road without trekking route and construction of a suspension bridge at Thukla this year.
In a letter related to ‘Himalayan life, Himalayan tourism and expectations from the government’, General Secretary Sharma made the request. Earlier, Sharma had written his first letter from The Sagarmatha Base Camp to Prime Minister Oli on the theme ‘Climate Change and Justice: Nepal Should Lead’.
He informed prime minister Oli about the problems, shortages and challenges he saw there while reaching from Lukla to base camp in Solukhumbu and from base camp to camp 3.
He said Nepal should take world-class leadership in this ‘agenda’ by expanding the ‘Sagarmatha Sambad’, which started with the resolve to protect Sagarmatha and all other mountains from the grip of climate change.
“There should be immediate directives, while preparing the budget, all the Tarai Madhes and the hills should be balanced, but while adjusting it, there should be no situation that the mountains did not get justice, the mountains should be seen in this budget.” General Secretary Sharma’s letter states.
