Lalitpur. Nepali Congress President and former Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba has said that there is no possibility of the monarchy returning to Nepal. In a program organized by the Training Department of the Congress Bagmati Province Committee here today, President Deuba expressed the view that former King Gyanendra Shah cannot be a constitutional king, alluding to the activities of monarchist supporters in the past few days.
On the occasion of the inauguration of a training program organized for office bearers and members of the Congress Province Working Committee, he said, “There is no possibility of the monarchy returning to Nepal, Gyanendra is not a person worthy of becoming a constitutional king, but rather the Rastriya Prajatantra Party would have made Gyanendra the party president.”
President Deuba suggested that former King Gyanendra should start a party if he was going to do politics. If he was going to do politics, he would have done it by starting a party, right? But those who join that party suffer a lot,’ the president said. He instructed the leaders and workers to unite in favor of the republic.
The training program, chaired by Congress Bagmati Province Vice President and Provincial Training Department Chief Chandra Maharjan, was attended by Spokesperson Dr. Prakash Sharan Mahat, Provincial President Indra Bahadur Baniya, Director of the party’s Central Policy, Research and Training Institute Dr. Krishna Prasad Poudel, Treasurer of Bagmati Province Dr. Bhadra Parajuli Bhandari, Executive Director of the Central Policy Research and Training Department Dr. Buddhiman Shrestha, among others.
