Kathmandu. Former Finance Minister and Nepali Congress lawmaker Dr Prakash Sharan Mahat has said that the budget for the upcoming fiscal year 2020/21 would not be able to generate income as expected. He said this while participating in a general discussion on the annual estimates of revenue and expenditure for the fiscal year 2082/83 BS in the House of Representatives meeting on Sunday.

He said that the international grant is not in a position to come as proposed by them and the foreign loan will not be implemented in the same way. Stating that it was difficult to meet the revenue target, he stressed the need for the government to work hard in it.

He said, “The income estimated by this budget will not be the same as desired. Foreign grants and international grants are not going to come as proposed by us. Foreign loans will not be implemented in the same way. And the revenue target that has been set has been reduced than before. Nevertheless, it takes a lot of hard work to achieve this goal. As a result, there is no doubt that there will be problems in the allocation as the income will not be generated according to the source of income shown by the budget and the kind of income that is received from loans, grants or revenue will not be the same. ‘

He said that the upcoming budget has tried to save some by improving the social security allowance in a timely manner.
