Siraha. Even though there is chemical fertilizer in the warehouse of the Agricultural Materials Company Limited in Lahan, farmers here have not received fertilizer. Farmers have not received fertilizer because the Madhes Province Ministry of Land Management, Agriculture and Cooperatives has not confirmed the number of fertilizers to be distributed to the local level.
Deepraj Poudel, branch manager of Agricultural Materials Company Limited Lahan, said that there has been a delay in the distribution of chemical fertilizers because the Madhes Province Ministry of Land Management, Agriculture and Cooperatives has not confirmed the number of fertilizers to be distributed to the local level. “The concerned ministry has to write and send the quantity of chemical fertilizers to be distributed to the local level according to the land area from the provincial government,” he said. The problem has arisen due to the delay in receiving the letter from the ministry. The process of distributing fertilizer will proceed as soon as the letter is received.’
A Lahan-based agricultural materials company has started distributing chemical fertilizers in Khotang, Okhaldhunga, Solu in Koshi Province and Siraha in Madhesh Province. According to Manager Poudel, the amount of fertilizer to be sent to the districts of Koshi Province has been specified and sent, so the fertilizer has been distributed to those districts of Koshi Province within the first week of Magh.
Due to procedural errors, farmers have not received fertilizer even during the ‘peak’ time for applying chemical fertilizers to wheat, but the office has stated that there are currently 500 metric tons of DAP and 700 metric tons of urea fertilizer in the warehouse of the material company.
