Kathmandu. Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak has said that the protest by royalists in Tinkune, Kathmandu on Chaitra 15 was carried out with the aim of abolishing the constitution. He said this while informing the State Administration and Good Governance Committee meeting at Singha Durbar on Friday.
He said that the protest in Tinkune was carried out with the aim of overthrowing the constitution and destroying the system.
He said that the royalist group vandalized and set fire to private property after taking permission to hold a peaceful protest. He said that the public statement made by former King Gyanendra Shah, the Falgun 25 demonstration and the statements made by royalist leaders did not hide the intention to overthrow the constitution and the system.
He said, ‘The demonstration and program held in Tinkune were inspired by the intention to overthrow the current constitution of Nepal, to end the federal democratic republican system of governance and the state system and management that we have adopted of an inclusive character. If we fall into the illusion that it was only inspired by the intention to peacefully express our opinions, warn the government, express our thoughts and attract the government’s attention, then it would not be right.’
‘Its main objective was to abolish the constitution. Its main objective was to abolish the democratic republic and overthrow the constitution. There is no doubt about this and there should be no doubt about it. “If we examine the background of the statements on Falgun 7, then the demonstration and events on Falgun 25, the opinions expressed by various people, the leaders’ hiding places, etc., and the fact that we are coming, the intention to overturn the constitution and end this system is not hidden anywhere,” he said.
He accused those leading the demonstration of inciting the crowd to violence and arson on private property.
