Kathmandu. The Revenue Investigation Department is collecting crores of rupees from businessmen, said Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) Chairman Rajendra Lingden. Lingden made the allegation after Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli appealed to the parliament to present evidence of corruption.
Chairman Lingden told Prime Minister Oli, “The Revenue Investigation Department under you says that it is still an office under the Prime Minister, we are under the Prime Minister, do not tell any other leader, if you tell any leader, you will still suffer, and is collecting money by harassing businessmen. Everyone knows that if you raid a businessman now, there may be goods that are not billed, they have left it at the border. Not only that, but they have also taken advantage of the open border, and the Revenue Investigation Department under the Prime Minister is still going on to come and advise them to raid. I want to tell the Prime Minister this. People around you are offering crores and crores for appointments, you said with a sneer, I will not commit corruption. I will not let you do it, but you do it or you do not do it, but those around you are doing it. I think he is unaware of the information. Like the king of Panchatantra, you are walking around wearing clothes that only the righteous can see, which the sinners cannot see. I am doing the work of that guardian, you are naked. Corruption is still rampant. They are even taking money from the payments of construction entrepreneurs.”
The government is working to protect the corrupt by making laws. Earlier, Prime Minister Oli had claimed that he would not commit corruption and would not let anyone do it. If anyone has evidence of corruption, they were challenged to present it.
Chairman Lingden strongly opposed that challenge. Recently, revenue investigation has been discredited. The department has been used for poverty alleviation of employees and leaders. Currently, the Director General of this department is Chandi Prasad Ghimire. He is retiring in Ashar 2082. According to sources, he has been seen as very ambitious before his retirement.
