Kathmandu. Nepal Communist Party (UML) General Secretary Shankar Pokharel has said that the responsibility of making the Nepali people happy and building the nation lies with the youth.
At the ‘Youth Celebration’ program organized by the UML at Bhrikutimandap today on the occasion of Democracy Day, he called on the youth who have gone abroad to return home to learn and build the country, saying that the responsibility of building the nation lies with the youth.
‘You should not be in despair, but should move forward on the path of hope,’ said General Secretary Pokharel. Stating that despite political instability in the country, nation-building has not gained momentum, he said that a strong national force needs to unite to move the country towards political stability.
‘Youth need not be disappointed, the CPN-UML is in this country,’ he added, ‘it will secure the future of the youth.’ Informing that the budget and government policies and programs for the coming fiscal year would be youth-friendly, he said that the current Prime Minister has deep affection for the youth.
Noting that the UML was attacked for standing in favor of the country and development, he said, ‘Development works that were stalled after the UML left the government have now progressed rapidly after the UML came to power.’ General Secretary Pokharel objected to the attempts to portray UML as anti-teachers and employees and urged everyone to trust those who work for the people.
The two biggest parties of the country are now trying to move the country forward together and since the two parties have now joined forces, many acts have been moved forward, so everyone is urged to trust and rely on them. He said that today’s program has dispelled the misconception that youth are turning away from politics and that youth across the country should return to their villages with new hope and enthusiasm.
Secretary General Pokharel, mentioning that Nepal is a nation of youth and there are millions of youth in Nepal who can work, said, ‘We must move forward to fulfill the aspirations of a prosperous nation and happy Nepalis by instilling hope and confidence in the hardworking youth.’
He mentioned that Baisakh 11 was the day the country moved forward from the politics of violence to the peace process, and the day the monarchy knelt before the people, and that is why this day has special significance.
