‘The provincial government is committed to improving the living standards of farmers through modern farming systems’

Janakpur. On the occasion of National Rice Day, Madhesh Province Chief Minister Satish Kumar Singh has extended his best wishes to all the people of Madhesh and farmers across the country. He said that the provincial government is committed to improving the living standards of farmers through modern farming systems.

Chief Minister Singh said that the provincial government has launched a long-term campaign to ‘Madhesh Feeds the Country’ to achieve self-reliance in food by taking agriculture as the backbone of the economy. He mentioned that the government has a clear strategy to increase agricultural production and productivity, reduce imports of agricultural products and promote exports, based on the main slogan of ‘Production in Madhesh, Expansion in the Country’.

According to him, ‘Two Rice Crop Promotion Programs’ have been implemented with the aim of strengthening rice production. He also informed that the government has given high priority to improving soil fertility, self-reliance in irrigation, mechanization, electrification and commercialization.

Chief Minister Singh said that the government is committed to ensuring sustainable development of rice crops by minimizing the effects of climate change and research, development and promotion of climate-friendly technologies. He mentioned that the government is continuously active in improving the living standards of farmers by expanding modern farming systems, providing easy access to improved seeds, fertilizers and irrigation facilities.

‘May the National Rice Day give us all a common resolve and inspiration to become self-reliant in food security,’ he said, ‘I extend my best wishes with respect to all farmer brothers and sisters.’
