He said that the provincial government has made arrangements to rescue pregnant and postpartum women by helicopter for emergency treatment and that the provincial government has focused its investment on expanding access to quality health services in rural areas.
At the local level He said that the provincial government is also sensitive to the capacity development of the existing judicial committees. Chief Minister Pandey said that the provincial government has started sending legal facilitators to all 84 local level judicial committees of the province, except Pokhara Metropolitan City, to facilitate the delivery of justice.
‘Legal facilitators have been appointed in 65 local levels, and the process of appointment in other local levels is moving forward,’ he said. ‘The provincial government has also been providing capacity development training to the heads and officials of the judicial committees through the Gandaki Provincial Training Institute.’
Chief Minister Pandey said that despite being punished by law, incidents of violence against women have not decreased as expected. “Women also face incidents of violence and discrimination against women in society, and some incidents are not even made public,” he said. “All parties must work together to protect women’s rights and end gender-based violence.”
