Kathmandu. Minister for Education, Science and Technology, Bidya Bhattarai, has suggested that a law be made to establish the Shaheed Dasharath Chand Health Sciences University as a standard university. Minister Bhattarai made this suggestion while participating in the clause-wise discussion on the bill in the meeting of the Education, Health and Information Technology Committee under the House of Representatives on Monday.
She said that the bill should make clear provisions on the calendar, human resource management and responsibilities of the university seen in universities. She said that the problem of disputes and lockouts in universities has become complicated in recent times. She emphasizes that the bill should be moved forward with a solution to this issue.
She said, “We can establish this university as a standard among the existing universities and the universities to be established in the future.” Currently, there are three problems within the university. One is about the calendar, the other is about the management of human resources within it and who will take the leadership and who will be responsible for the university. The most complicated issue now is how we will deal with the lockout in the university, the disputes that occur there and the cultural conflicts. I would like to request here to include this issue in the bill.’
Minister Bhattarai said that there should also be clear provisions regarding the rights of university officials.
