Kathmandu. Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba has said that the private sector has made a great contribution to the development of the economy.
At an interaction program organized by the Industry and Trade Department of the Nepali Congress today, President Deuba stated that the role of the private sector is important for the country’s economic prosperity and said that the government should support in addressing the ‘agenda’ raised by the private sector.
‘Industry and business should be promoted to promote the market for domestically produced goods. The role of the private sector is important to increase the production of domestic goods. Coordination between the private sector and the government is necessary to increase employment,’ he said. ‘The digital economy has also occupied a large share. The budget for the coming fiscal year should be of a kind that encourages the digital economy. This will help in the promotion of information technology.’
President Deuba expressed confidence that the budget for the upcoming fiscal year will address the issues raised by the private sector and make the economic sector more dynamic. Nepali Congress General Secretary Gagan Kumar Thapa assured that the power equation will continue. ‘The current power equation will continue to move forward. But for this, the government should work in a way that will win hearts,’ he said.
Chairman of the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry Chandra Prasad Dhakal said that the state should create an investment-friendly environment for the private sector and that the private sector will move forward in collaboration to achieve the government’s goal of economic prosperity.
Senior Vice President of the Nepal Chamber of Commerce Deepak Malhotra said that selling ‘apartments’ to foreign citizens would be beneficial and would also help in the development of eco-tourism. He said that it was necessary to adopt a policy to attract foreign investment in agriculture.
